Frequently asked questions!

We receive many good, relevant questions about caulking. It is very important to be well informed about the advantages of services and the disadvantages of neglect.

Is it important to caulk a house or building?

YES, very important. Caulking prevents insect, water and air infiltration.

If there is no evidence of water infiltration inside the house, am I still protected?

NO. Water infiltration is very subtle. Water seeps quietly into walls and floors over time. By the time there is evidence on the inside, the internal damage has usually already begun.

Are the products you use harmful to my health?

NO. We use silicones which are low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These products have a very slight odor and can be used inside and outside without harm to you and your young family.

What is the difference between silicone and thermoplastic?

Silicone has very low levels of VOCs (volatile organic compounds), air dries without loss of volume and has a very slight odor. Thermoplastic is solvent based with a high level of VOCs (volatile organic compounds). After application, the solvents evaporate leaving a strong odor and approximately a 50% loss of the thermoplastic diameter. It is not for interior use.

What is the range of temperatures for applying silicone?

Silicone can be applied between -29° Celsius and 49° Celsius without affecting the quality and adhesion.

What sets you apart from the competition?

The three main differences are:

  • We are open 12 months a year to serve you better, the competition offers services on a seasonal basis only.
  • We have a team of assessors available at all times for better service, the competition does not have a team.
  • Our quotes are very detailed. With each quote, you receive a precise plan which indicates all the areas that require caulking. What is clear to us is clear to you. The competition is very vague on this subject which can create misunderstandings.

When should I have caulking assessed?

It is recommended having your house or building examined by a professional every five years. They will inspect all the joints and make recommendations.

What is your guarantee?

Once a quote is accepted, we offer a 10 year limited guarantee, 2 years for labour and 10 years for materials.
