The best sealant on the market!

There are many sealants on the market. At Calfeutrage PRO SOLUTION we guarantee using the best available product and without a doubt, silicone performs the best. Unlike solvent-based thermoplastic, which loses diameter before hardening, silicone air dries without shrinking and provides maximum protection for your home or building against infiltration.

For most of our projects, we use CWS DOWSIL™ silicone. It does not require any primer and can be applied to almost all waterproof materials. Silicone is recognized for its durability, flexibility and tightness on expansion, control, panel and curtain wall joints as well as on window and door frames. Known for its high degree of elasticity, CWS DOWSIL™ silicone provides an economical option that is superior to other sealants.

Our preference is CWS DOWSIL TM silicone for its adhesive strength. This product is ideal in a number of situations, including inside buildings subject to ground shifting. Its components are resistant to the growth of moulds. The adhesion becomes optimal after several weeks of curing. This occurs after application when the silicone develops a surface skin. Humidity in the air activates the process.

CWS DOWSIL™ sealant is used in all conditions. The product is equally efficient in temperatures as high as 49° Celsius (120° Fahrenheit) and as low as -29° Celsius (-20° Fahrenheit). CWS DOWSIL™ meets the requirement norms of ASTM C 920, Type S, Grade NS, Class 40, usage NT, M, A, and O. Its VOC (volatile organic compound) content is low. Silicone can be applied to the interior and the exterior of a building.

Preparation steps for best results

In order to offer quality work that will meet your expectations, it is essential to prepare the area to be sealed properly. Even with the best product on the market and elite applicators, without thorough preparation, it is impossible to execute high quality work.

The six essential steps are:

Remove the old caulking

The old caulking must be removed. No matter how difficult, it must be completely removed. A variety of tools are used to remove it easily without damaging the siding of your house or building.

Clean with a solvent

The area to be caulked must be cleaned with a solvent to remove dirt or grease which could inhibit the adhesion of the new sealant. .

Apply a primer (as needed)

Primer is applied to enhance the adherence of the new sealant. Based on the material being caulked, it can be applied as needed. Our experienced applicators have been trained to work on a variety of different materials.

Insert backer rods (as needed)

Depending on the gap to be sealed, sometimes backer rods need to be inserted before caulking can be applied. These rods are used as needed based on the depth and width of the space.

Apply new sealant

Sealant is applied with a cordless caulk gun. This caulking gun allows the new sealant to be applied very evenly unlike a standard gun. The applicator in a standard manual pomp gun leaves the sealant with irregularities when applied.

Finishing

Once the silicone is in place, it is smoothed out using a finishing tool to ensure adhesion on cladding. This method works perfectly in the case of joints made on a linear surface at the juncture of two types of material.
